Obama commits to storm recovery and rebuilding

WASHINGTON (AP) ? President Barack Obama is telling Americans impacted by Superstorm Sandy that the country will be there for them as long as it takes to recover and rebuild.

In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama says he has ordered his team not to let red tape and bureaucracy delay solving problems, especially for getting power restored.

To that end, a White House official says the president on Saturday will hold a teleconference between his team and state and local officials of impacted areas before dispatching several members of his Cabinet to view response efforts firsthand. The official spoke on condition of anonymity in advance of a public announcement.

Obama, in his final weekly address before Election Day, says there is "a lot of work ahead" for many storm-damaged communities.
