? | Job Responsibilities Under the direction of the Board of Directors (BOD) of Friends: - Serve as the public face of Friends. Conduct tours when docents are not available.
- Research opportunities for corporate and philanthropic support. Write grant applications.
- Meet with current and prospective preservation contractors regarding specific projects.
- Monitor, supervise and document onsite restoration projects.
- Conduct historic research, either individually or in collaboration with others. Prepare written reports and articles based on research findings.
- Supervise intern(s).
- Maintain multiple databases and lists, including processing memberships in Friends.
- Create and manage content for Friends web site. Prepare and send out email blasts.
- Write articles, edit and produce Friends newsletter The Herald published three times per year.
- Attend meetings on behalf of Friends. Organize meeting logistics.
- Help organize lecture series, including publicity, marketing, and physical logistics.
- Manage the Friends office. Maintain files, supplies and inventory. Fulfill orders of any products sold. Check and respond to email and telephone inquiries.
- Prepare bi-monthly written report of activities to the BOD and attend BOD meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills - Excellent writing, speaking and organizational skills
- Proficiency in basic computer programs, including Word, Excel and Access
- Website management skills, including graphic design (desirable)
- Knowledge of building construction, technical drawings & preservation methods
- Interest in stained glass and the Arts & Crafts movement
- Pay rate of $15/hour, working 20 hours over 3 to 4 days/week
- Work status is as an independent contractor
- Work location: Second Presbyterian Church, 1936 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL
- Office space on 3rd floor, accessible only by stairs
